Film Forum on Human Trafficking

Project for United Nations GIFT (2008)

Let us not close our eyes

Over 1,000 experts and celebrities responded to an invitation from the United Nations to meet in Vienna to debate what it calls 'the crime that shames us all': international human trafficking. United Nations GIFT (Global Initiative to Fight Human Trafficking) commissioned Vandejong to select films on the topic and to organise and produce a film festival.

Films on human trafficking from around the world were shown in Vienna's two most important theatres and the United Nations complex over a four-day period. In addition to compiling the list of films, Vandejong organised the entire festival, created the house style for the festival and published a catalogue. These means now provide the United Nations with an accessible blueprint for other interested parties to use for duplicating the festival elsewhere. Each time the film forum is held somewhere in the world, it will reach an ever-increasing audience.
