A book with a history, a future and a chip off the new block

The Stedelijk Museum wants to offer an exclusive gift to potential sponsors for the re-opening of the building. Vandejong responded by designing a concept for a publication that does justice to the glorious history of the Stedelijk and puts the museum in its proper international context. The first half of the book comprises images of key moments and works that have been shown over the course of the museum's history. The second half presents readers with a tangible glimpse into the future: a piece of the new building made of synthetic fibre. Between the two halves of the book, strategically located between the past and the future, is a DVD featuring an interview with museum director Gijs van Tuyl and an animated rendering of the new building. The highly exclusive, magical book is a gift that the Stedelijk Museum can present with pride.
