2025: Locks have been moved, channels deepened and canals reopened in and around Amsterdam. You can get to the city faster by boat than car. From now on, we get to Central Station by water taxi.
Vandejong designed a water map for Rotterdam’s biennial celebration to show the endless and realistic possibilities for water-based transport in and around Amsterdam. The map offers an inspiring view of the near future. The water map consists of six major water lines with four hubs, a variety of stations and poetic names. The lines are colour coded. The result is a realistic looking network reminiscent of the London Underground. The map takes the Amsterdam of 2005 and depicts the metropolis in 2007.
